Dani Klein Modisett drops by Bernie and AL’s just after the LA launch of her second book Take My Spouse, Please. Endorsed by Carl Reiner, Ben Stiller and Jim Gaffigan, the book is recommended by Los Angeles Magazine as one of ‘8 Books You Need to Read This July’.  After taking an honest look at marriage and examining that point where “you’re either going to separate or double down” Modisett definitely doubled down – with 3 years of research interviewing comedians, marriage counselors and successful long term spouses. In Take My Spouse, Please Modisett goes beyond touting the importance of humor in a marriage and she applies 13 golden rules of comedy to maintaining a healthy, happy, long marriage. (A few rule examples: Show Up, Listen, Don’t Quit on a Bad Night) Dammit, this book is practical. If you know anyone getting married give them something they can actually use, stick a wad of cash in the pages of Take My Spouse, Please and give it to them.

Modisett’s interview, like her writing, is honest, informative and at times hilarious. This episode, like driving through Italian countryside, oftentimes veers off course and gets better with every turn.
