1. The writer of Hebrews is now making concluding remarks between the Law and the gospel because the Law is not the gospel.--2. The Law was an instrument or servant to the greater things that would be revealed later, which things are Christ and are in Christ alone who made an end to the purification of sin.--3. The things that are in Christ are the gospel because in Christ we have sinners who have been constituted as just man made perfect.--4. To confuse Mt Sinai and Mt Zion is to deny Mt Zion because in Mt Zion God does not impute sins to His people. The Law always imputes sin, because by the Law is the knowledge of sin and by the Law transgressions are increased, but the Law is not the end of the gospel-CHRIST IS. --5. God spoke from the earth through Mt Sinai -the Law, Moses- and those who refused to hear did not escape. And now He is speaking or has spoken from heaven by His Son and anyone who refuses the Son shall not escape-they shall be lumped into the pile of the things that should be shaken and their punishment is greater because the Son is superior to Moses-to the LAW. The greater the dignity of the person sinned against-the greater the condemnation.--6. Only the things that are in the Son shall remain unshaken-eternal life and His everlasting righteousness. --7. Self-righteousness is the Tower of Babel and the bridge to nowhere and it too shall be shaken together with the nations and the peoples.- -8. God is now giving a preview-a foretaste of the shaking to come and if anyone holds to the gospel of Law plus grace-they are not hearing Him who speaks from heaven. The gospel is grace alone because Christ alone accomplished salvation by His blood.
