Forty percent of adults and 20% of children are obese, and those percentages are rising. By 2030, researchers project that obesity will affect nearly half of US adults. Obesity is associated with a higher risk of 13 types of cancer as well as poorer survival rates for several types of cancer.

Dr. Roy Jensen, director of The University of Kansas Cancer Center, speaks with Dr. Christie Befort, associate director for Cancer Prevention and Control at KU Cancer Center. Joining us via Skype will be physician Dr. Jennifer McKenney, from the Bacani / Mckenney Clinic based in Fredonia, Kansas and Les Lacy, a patient research advocate based out of St. Francis, Kansas. They will discuss RePower, a five-year study they were involved in that evaluated different weight loss strategies. Learn about obesity's connection to cancer, and how researchers are developing and testing methods to help people lose weight.
