TAKE STEPS + VIRTUAL is a nationwide walk taking place TODAY to raise funds and awareness for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Kristen speaks with Lauren Hoban, Manager for National Fundraising Campaigns & Volunteer Engagement for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation about this virtual walk today, on the first day of summer - Saturday, June 20th. The virtual nature of the event this year allows for unlimited options for ways to participate. Run, walk, climb stairs, take your dog out, hopscotch, whatever! Register at Cctakesteps.org/virtual for more information.

The mission of the Crohn’s and Colitis foundation is to cure Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. While there are treatments, unfortunately there is no cure. Lauren gives some basic information about Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis including statistics, symptoms, and how we can help to fight these diseases. Join Lauren and millions of others coming together (virtually) TODAY, Saturday, June 20th, starting at 12pm on the Take Steps Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/crohnscolitistakesteps. This nationwide virtual walk (the biggest ever for the organization) happens today, and there will also be 39 other local walks taking place from July through November across the country. The local Philadelphia walk will be on September 26th at the Wells Fargo Center (if it’s safe to gather in person) so mark your calendars and register at cctakesteps.org/philadelphia2020! Preston Elliot from our sister station WMMR will be the virtual emcee to get the walk started today. Join him at 11:15, ahead of the national event at https://www.facebook.com/ccfapadelaware.
