He was released February 21, 2020. Chester Weger went to prison for the murder of three women from Chicago. The murders took place during a trip to Starved Rock State Park. On March 14, 1960 Lillian Oethy, Frances Murphy, and Mildred Linquist took a hike in the park and never returned. There bodies were found in St. Louis Canyon, a striking scenic area with a waterfall and rock walls. He still claims his innocence and a life lost behind bars. It is a controversial case before DNA was able to be used to determine if his confession was coerced or a moment of regret.
