School's out across the nation but Erika still did a book report. We discuss the history of the Black River's Fall area during the Victorian era. Death, capturing death in photos, and the wide use of the concept of insane that sent many people to the local asylum. Michael Lesy assembled hundreds of clips from the newspaper archives into his 1973 book titled Wisconsin Death Trip. The book has overwhelming detail, yet leaves so much to the imagination. The photos and clippings are not paired together and the pages are not even numbered. You learn the person's story by either looking a person and trying to read what their life was like or reading and trying to picture what their life was like. We researched a favorite character, Mary Sweeny, and Kerry has some big plans for this story. Watch out Hollywood. The casting couch is open.
