Lebanese thinker and Theologian Martin Accad joins Laura, Malky and Jonty for a light conversation about heavy topics.
We cover Palestine, Muslim-Christian relations, an alternative to both syncretism and apologetics, and whether Jesus calls us to be supra-religious.
Martin Accad was a senior leader in the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary in Beirut for many years (where he still lectures) and was a founder of IMES, the Institute for Middle East Studies (where he still occasionally blogs). He now heads up Action Research Associates.
Martin's book on Christian-Muslim relations and the 'kerygmatic approach' to witness and peace-making provides an insightful potential blueprint for all Christian engagement with the religious 'other'. You can buy Sacred Misinterpretation through the Bezos brand, but we'd rather you bought this book on 'reaching across the Muslim-Christian divide' here.
Martin also edited and contributed several chapters to The Religious Other: A Biblical Understanding of Islam, the Qur'an and Muhammad and you should check that out, too.
Martin Accad's latest blog for IMES is about translation and the name of Jesus - read it here.

We don't really want to preach at you, but some people like to know what we believe. It's this: Jesus Christ is the Son of God and came to teach us a better way to be while reconciling us to God and each other in a way we could never do without Him. He also changed water into wine. Nice.
