I have an appreciation for the angel that John temporarily worships. He could have received the worship that John sent his way. He could have said in his little angel-heart something like, "You are right John! I am pretty glorious! I'm worthy of this affection directed my way. You should worship me!"

Instead he says: "You MUST NOT DO THAT . I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers..." The angel gets it right. He has volition and agency, and refuses worship of himself. He redirects it toward God. He is humble. He is helpful to John.
