Peter and the other arrestees are un-arrested. Those who arrested the apostles are now arrested themselves by favor of the people. They cannot do what they want. The people have turned enough to actually protect the Apostles.

Today we learn of the activity of the Father, Son and Spirit in helping the believer. Our passage says that Jesus is exalted "to give repentance." Wait, I don't repent all by myself? Isn't that MY job in this process. Well, it is such a big deal, that apparently, you will even need help with your side of the board.

It is like a grandfather teaching his granddaughter to play tic tac toe. He will need to be playing "both sides of the board" to orchestrate a winning strategy. Fortunately, God's winning strategy is that WE WIN, just like the grandfather.
