Your Mother Should Know is a typical McCartney song, which takes him back to the days when his father played the piano in a band.
The production of the song is a bit strange, distracting from the attractiveness of this throwaway; the vocals start banked to the left, then move to the right, then end in the middle. This was great fun when stereo was just invented.
While remixing the vocals in the middle, the BDJ tea-room orchestra entered the studios, and strings and woodwind were added.
