When we feel out of control, we cling to something.
✓ We’re anxious and/or fearful about it.
✓ We attempt to manipulate the outcome.
✓ We try to plan for every possible scenario.
✓ We’ve become irritable or unpleasant.
✓ We think we’re the only ones who can handle it.
✓ We put others down when they bring our control issues to our attention.
✓ The very idea of letting go seems impossible.
WHERE WE END, HE BEGINS
Romans 12:1-2 (NIV) “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
1. What’s in my view?
Romans 12:1 (NIV) “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
The greatest sacrifice I can make, the greatest offering I can bring, and the best worship I can give is me at the end of myself.
2. What pattern am I living by?
Romans 12:2 (NIV) Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
The pattern of this world is to stay in control. The pattern of the Kingdom of God is to stay surrendered.
