Since 2009, Mariel has enjoyed a successful career in spite of facing the difficulties of an industry that often treats female artists with a shocking amount of discrimination and abusiveness. In this interview Mariel talks about some of the treatment that she's faced (from both music industry insiders and from other artists). She also talks about the backlash she faced when she chose to speak about it publicly. Thankfully, Mariel has endured and has just released her first solo album "Make Me Smile" under the name Best Ex--which is arguably the best record of her career!
