Huge budgets and A-list actors are just two of the things you'd be unlikely to find in Direct to Video (DTV) movies, and that's exactly the case in this weeks top 5 about movies released straight to video or streaming services. Perhaps you'll find out about some unknown classic in a subject close to Reegs's heart, or maybe more likely you'll find yourself hearing about the 3rd, 4th, 5th or later sequels to movies that no one cared that much about to begin with. But with talented directors like John Hyams, Isaac Florentine and Jesse V. Johnson under discussion as well as some excellent acting talent such as Britain's finest, Scott Adkins or Coolio you may just find a hidden gem.

Our main feature is Terminator: Dark Fate. The 6th installment in the terminator franchise, this could almost be a DTV release itself were it not for the $185m budget and the return of the Terminator holy trilogy James Cameron, Arnie and Linda Hamilton. Released in 2019 this was not a huge hit at the Box Office but were the Dads entertained? As ever, that is the only question that counts.

The kids feature is the Netflix original series Free Rein. This horsey themed, stable-set children's soap opera would work well with the addition of time travel, dystopian futures and messianic saviors but in lieu of that, can the story of American Zoe spending her summer frolicking with her pony in the hay bales on an unnamed English island capture the Dads imagination? It seems unlikely but you never know...

You can usually find the Dads annoying people on Twitter - @dads_film - or on Facebook or via email at [email protected]. We'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, we remain...
