Mark Metcalf talks about playing Douglas C. Neidermeyer in "Animal House" with a fan of the film and friend of the podcast.

A few weeks back, ThirdCoast Digest managing editor Dan Shafer (who records and produces this podcast) told me that a friend of his is a big fan of my role as Douglas C. Neidermeyer in Animal House, and asked if I could sign a few DVDs for his friend.

I said yes, but under the condition that he come in to record a podcast so we could talk about the film and what he had planned for the DVDs.

So Will Amacher, bar manager at the Calhoun Beach Club (CBC’s) in Oshkosh, Wis., came to the TCD office to talk about the Animal House night he was planning at his bar, and along the way, I divulged a few insider secrets about the AFI Top 100 comedy.

Copies of Animal House signed by yours truly will be given away as the grand prize for the toga party costume contest at CBC’s on Friday, June 29, and per my request, part of the proceeds will go to benefit the Alzheimers Association and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. If you’re in the Oshkosh area next Friday night, be sure to stop on by.
