In Season 2 Episode 12 I sat down with Eli Steinfield. Eli is a Development Coach in the Baltimore Orioles organization. This position is new to baseball and is becoming a very interesting role. The development coach is the middle man between the analysts and coaches within technology/on-field development. The Baltimore Orioles have adapted to the new age style of development but wants to keep the old school mentality of one on one coaching. Eli attended the Indiana University-Bloomington and graduated with a degree in sports marketing. During college, Eli was an Amateur Scouting Intern with the Detroit Tigers during the 2016 summer. After Indiana University-Bloomington, Eli attended Columbia University and received his masters in Sports Management. While attending Columbia, Eli was a graduate assistant for the baseball team and during the summer he interned for the New York Mets organization in player development during 2018 season. Before the Orioles, Eli was a player development technology apprentice with the Houston Astros during the 2019 season. This allowed him to take a huge dive into technology and how it works within professional baseball development. Eli has a very knowledgeable baseball mind and really understands the game. Eli does a great job at understanding his role and asking questions which he takes as an advantage. He has such a great work ethnic and has a bright future ahead of him in player development. Please join me in listening to Eli’s story and “Always Remember Be Yourself”.
