Welcome!Question: What is the worst date you’ve ever been on?Two minute recap: This episode begins with the worst date ever. It is the worst because it is a two-on-one with Genevieve and Shanae. Also, near as I can tell this is barely a date. They go on an awkward boat ride and then have an awkward picnic where he pulls each of them aside for a one-on-one conversation. I don’t understand why they had to go anywhere to do all this. They could have avoided a long, awkward car ride. Anyway, Genevieve confesses that opening up is hard and she’s been shut off but reaffirms that she is here for love. Shanae jumps right in with the accusations, telling Clayton that Genevieve is acting or being fake and then follows up by telling the producers how proud she is for crying on command. God, she’s the worst. Clayton almost falls for it and asks Genevieve if she’s an actress. Does he expect her to say yes? Something about this interaction triggers Clayton’s ability to read people and he steps away before coming back to send Shanae home. Everyone rejoices. We move onto the cocktail party before the rose ceremony. Sarah confesses her love to Clayton. Mara is getting jealous and her role as the next villain is starting to take shape. Rachel and Clayton need to get a room. Mara feeds Clayton a bite of food but then her time with him is interrupted. Mara is starting to unravel. The rose ceremony isn’t particularly surprising, Hunter and Marlena go home and the remaining crew jets off to Croatia. Teddi is gets a one-on-one in Croatia. Tedi reveals she’s a virgin. Clayton couldn’t tell from looking at her… WHAT? Teddi gets a rose. They announce a group date which reveals that Sarah is getting a second one-on-one. Mara doubles down on how being old makes her more ready for marriage and keeps referring to herself as Queen. At the group date, Mara tries hard by eating nasty food. Rachel tells Clayton she’s falling for him. He blushes. Gives Rachel the group date rose. Mara is mad. She feels slighted and decides to use her time with Clayton to tell him that he is doing everything wrong and to throw Sarah under the bus. Meanwhile, Suzi decides to surprise Clayton with a clocktower date. He loves it. By the way, the timing of all of this has me so confused. The next day, maybe? Sarah practically skips to her one-on-one that I think is just dinner…only to find out that she’s been accused of being young and not marriage material. She cries a lot. Clayton asks for time to think. Which is weird. Sarah feels very betrayed and spirals before pulling it together for her and Clayton to make up and she grabs her rose. On the way out, she kind of breaks out of the sweet role we’ve seen her in and the previews suggest that Sarah might be a villain after all. Concept 1: Shanae. She issues an IG statement where she suggested that was how they arranged the footage. Thoughts. Also, Shanae for the next Bachelorette?Concept 2: Virgins. Why are reality dating shows so obsessed with virgins? Can you tell a virgin from looking at them? Concept 3: Mara’s effort. Does effort count in the Bachelor? In love? Kim’s lesson on how to snag a man– then and now. (were 1950s men really that helpless/worthless?)Lessons learnedSign off
