In 1993 he became the first totally blind person appointed to a full professorship at an Australian university. He served as Professor of Industrial Law at the University of Sydney and went on to become Dean of their Law School. Ron has been a leading light in the disabled community and chaired the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
