We talk with A'Lelia Bundles, the author of, "On Her Own Ground: The Life and Times of Madam CJ Walker." Her biography of her own great-great grandmother explains how Madam CJ Walker became the first female self-made millionaire in the United States. Battling both racism and sexism, Walker became a giant of American business through her perseverance and ingenuity. Bundles explains how Walker, a daughter of slaves, became a genius of marketing, while also protesting across the country for social justice. Bundles also explains why she felt called to write this book, which has been made into a Netflix series, "Self Made," starring Octavia Spencer.
