Even for the technologically-inclined sports fans it is easy to take for granted all the work that goes into turning live sporting events into prime time television. As audio visual professionals many of us may posses an inkling for what’s going on behind the scenes. However it may still seem like a bit of a dark art. Not any more. Our guest on this episode is Keith Martin. Keith is an Engineer-in-Charge (EIC) at Game Creek Video, one of the largest providers of mobile production trucks in the world.

Keith took some time out of his busy travel and work schedule to help us gain a better understanding of professional prime time sports production. Keith has a very impressive resume, which includes being the Engineer-in-Charge of production for Super Bowl 48 (where Jason’s Broncos got absolutely embarrassed, but we digress). We discussed Keith’s background, which includes attending the same college (UMass Lowell) as Nate. We then dove into the nuts and bolts of sports TV production, including MLB Baseball, NFL Football, and NASCAR. We learned that, despite appearances, there is nothing magical about this trade. What really brings these productions to life is simply the hard work and dedication of an extremely skilled group of audio visual professionals.  Tune into this episode for an inside look at the fascinating business of prime time sports production!
