Glam Chat: Interview with Pete Murray

Since giving up Rugby and picking up a guitar, Pete Murray has become one of Australia’s most-loved singers.

Pete has just finished an extensive two-month tour of England, Wales, Ireland and Holland and has been in the studio working on new music. According to the singer, we can expect the music to be released in early 2020.

The Byron Bay singer-songwriter released his breakthrough record Feeler in 2003.

“I was struggling with Feeler when we did it,” says Pete. “I was struggling to hear the beauty of it or anything really good about it.”

The album featured hit single So Beautiful, which topped Aussie charts, sold more than 450,000 copies, and garnered 12 ARIA Awards nominations. Pete himself reveals he didn’t listen to the album from start to finish for eight years.

“I didn’t really like it,” he says. “I didn’t listen to the album for eight years from start to finish. I just couldn’t do it.”

Pete continues, “eight years later I got a text from Dan Middleton from Powderfinger who said hey, I just listened to Feeler. What a great album. So I just put it on one day and said to myself, don’t stop it, just play it all the way through and let it be.”

The verdict?

“I was really happy,” says Pete.

Pete has sold out tours both in Australia and internationally, and will soon be playing A Day On The Green as one of the headliners, along with Rob Thomas.

“It’s such a good vibe,” says Pete. “It’s one of my favourite events to play at in Australia.”
