"Want a story? Now just hear dat! Where I get a story at?" Paul Laurence Dunbar's A Cabin Tale is a classic African American poetic folk tale published in 1895 in Dayton, Ohio. Dunbar gives voice to the grandfather/mother (elder) figure of southern plantation days in America. The simplest of settings - a young child sitting at the knee of a wise sage asking for a story.
Listen closely to what happens when the little Weasel tricks the big BAD bear.
Enjoy listening to Aunti Oni re-tell it in the southern dialect as it was written by Mr. Dunbar, read along here.
