Ben Williams (@benagain) has been the comedy editor at Time Out London since 2011. He's also run the Long Paws Comedy Club for over a decade and really knows what makes a good listing that attracts the eye and the right kind of audience for your event. He also had advice on PR and press releases.

I got him on the podcast to talk about -

What is the process to get listed at Time Out London. How to get featured / your event promoted for free on the website. Will they accept press releases from comedians who can’t afford PRs, and what are the do’s and don’ts if you are going to send them in.How Ben keeps track of the performers and clubs he enjoys to ensure they get covered in the magazine / on the website. How often will Time Out cover a performer and how often do they cover new performersWith more and more audience members sticking to comedians they know off the telly, how do you think that’s impacting you as a listings site?

AND MORE!

This podcast would be useful to any performer trying to get more exposure for their solo events or a promoter who wants to know the secret of what makes a good listing for their club.

My 2nd book is finally out! It's called "How To Make A Living By Working For Free" and you can buy it here for £5 (digital) or £8 (paperback). Here's the synopsis of the book -

The book is a how-to guide for artists to create their own online community for their work and how that community can support the artist to become sustainable in every way.

The book takes a critical and in-depth look at the media's perception of "free content" vs the reality of what the general public see it as.

If you're an artist in the modern age who wants a sustainable audience you're no longer just an artist, you're a community leader.

If you'd like to read the first few chapters of the book you can find a PDF version of that here.

Please check out my other podcast - The Audio Time Capsule. In each episode a guest comes on, leaves 20 questions, then a year later comes back on and answers them. I then edit it so they're talking to their past self.
