goodbye/fun facts....Sew Be It Day commemorates September 10, 1846, the day on which Elias Howe was awarded the first American patent on a sewing machine. Howe realized that there had to be a Better Way to sew clothes rather than stitch by stitch...Howe left America for England to sell his design, which did not end well. When he returned to America, he found several entrepreneurs, including Isaac Singer (yes, that Singer), making money off of his patent. Though Howe eventually made his fortune, it was a hard-won battle.
