In bygone days, grief was displayed for all to see, and sex was never discussed publicly or even comfortably. How things have changed! Listen in as Kathryn Murano-Santos discusses some old traditions.

Episode Notes:
From hair jewelry to other traditions, we gain some insight into bereavement traditions from past ages. Kathryn Murano-Santos is Senior Director of Collections and Exhibitions, Rochester Museum & Science Center in Rochester, NY. Her studies concentrated on anthropology and cultural anthropology became her main interest. She received her Master of Philosophy, Social Anthropology in 2002 from the University of Cambridge after obtaining her Bachelor of Arts, Anthropology and Religious Studies (double major) at the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. Community involvements include Take It Down steering committee; president, Friends of Ganondagan board of trustees; vice president, Rochester Regional Library Council board of trustees; member Lewis Henry Morgan Chapter of the New York State Archaeological Association board; member Museum Studies Advisory board, Rochester Institute of Technology; adjunct professor, RIT; and campaigned with Take It Down activists and clergy and partner organizations to address racial justice in the Rochester City School District through a focus on recruiting and retaining more race- and class-conscious teachers of color.
