Caleb Pike of DSLRVideoShooter.com is the ultimate MacGyver of DIY video. In this episode Caleb talks about how he built his own affordable Hackintosh. Caleb is kind of like Dr. Frankenstein: he has taken the software brains of a Mac and implanted it into the monster hardware of a Windows PC to create a hybrid machine with enormous horsepower to run FCP X - his video editing software of choice. His blazing fast Hackintosh leaves Apple's Mac Pro spinning its beachball cursor in dazed confusion and gasping in the dust. How much did Caleb’s Hackintosh cost? About $1600 - thousands of dollars less expensive than a Mac Pro.

In this conversation Caleb talks about finally ditching Adobe Creative Cloud. He no longer has a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud and is getting along just fine without it. He talks about equivalent software that allows him to get the job done without having a monthly bill for the software. Caleb also talks about his philosophy of eliminating things that don’t bring you joy. And after nearly an hour of conversation, we finally get around to talking a bit about cameras and Caleb’s attitude towards gear.
