On this episode of AtL: Behind the Scenes Zach interviewed Ford Fischer, the editor in chief at News2Share and a video journalist who’s been caught up in the so called #VoxAdpocaplypse. The short version, for those not familiar, is that Vox journalist Carlos Maza made an appeal to YouTube to punish conservative commentator Stephen Crowder for statements made towards him relating to his race and sexual orientation – during the site’s celebrated Pride Month. This led to YouTube demonetizating news organizations, pulling of historical videos (like Hitlers speeches) along with some white nationalist and hate speech-friendly channels.

In this episode, Zach and Ford also chat about how social media sites, such as YouTube, dictate which journalists can make a living and what we might be able to do to fix the problem.
