Shaun Smith is on the podcast today. Shaun is known for busting his ass in the backcountry to find success. Always putting his son and wife first, he still finds time to crush it in the gym, meticulously go over his archery gear, and plan several hunts a year. Any nonresident hunter knows the true challenge of planning a hunt, let alone finding success. It’s not for the faint of heart and truly puts you to the test. Shaun has proven time and time again that his persistence, preparation, and dedication results in success. In this episode we cover:

His disastrous knee injury, what the surgeon did to fix it, and his road to recovery.
We discuss the planning process of his Colorado high country archery hunt taking into consideration that he had just came off of a major knee surgery.
We jump into the hunt, his strategy, and his biggest buck to date.
We cover some technical questions on stalking, locating, backing out of a stalk and more.
We go briefly over his setup including arrow, broadhead, weight, etc.
And of course, we saw a couple squirrels and went of on tangents. But hell, they might be tangents that are very valuable.
