Orwell believed that our world was heading towards a world under the boot of tyrants. Huxley believed that we would not be subdued and enslaved by force, but by being made to not care about freedom by being pacified by triviality. In Amusing Ourselves to Death, Neil Postman pointed out in the 1980s how right Huxley was being shown to be by the American obsession with television.

In this episode we discuss 1984, A Brave New World, and Amusing Ourselves to Death in the age of the internet. We will show where each was right and hopefully entice you to set your phone down and live free.
