Have you ever heard of the “firmament”? Certain Bible versions translate Genesis 1:6 as “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters.” But what is this firmament?
Well, some people think it means a solid dome. But that’s not what the Hebrew word means. A better translation is what most Bible versions use—“expanse.” It simply means the sky or atmosphere, heavens, or space.
So, God didn’t create a hard dome over the earth and God’s Word doesn’t say he did! The Bible says God created the sky and the heavens.
And when we look at what God has made we see evidence that the sky, atmosphere, and heavens are designed!
