Despite the "quit smoking" campaigns and social stigma surrounding the habit, African Americans are second only to Native Americans and Alaska Natives in the number of people who still smoke. And of African Americans who still light up, three in four smoke menthol cigarettes; menthol makes it easier to start - and harder to quit - smoking.
