How does chronic stress affect the health of your heart? What does anger do to your arteries?

These are the questions I asked Jonathan Fisher, MD, a Harvard-trained cardiologist with 20 years of clinical experience, who is in the process of writing his first book: “Just One Heart”.

In this episode, we delve into the anatomy of society (capitalism, how we were raised as children, workplace culture) and its impact on our wellbeing, something Jonathan has seen first-hand.

We talk about how the pressure of contemporary life has negatively impacted many people’s mental wellbeing and physical health, particularly their hearts.

We also explore the connection between mind, body, and heart, burnout in high-stress professions, and the importance of valuing qualities like empathy and compassion in our workplaces. Jonathan introduces the concept of conscious capitalism and learning how to operate from a higher consciousness.

I was particularly surprised by the often-misunderstood topic of anger and the concept of “broken heart syndrome”. I hope this conversation will inspire you to be kind to yourself, especially if you are running yourself a bit too thin and offer you compassion, healing and a moment of introspection.
