Episode: 00160 Released on May 22, 2023
Description: Michael Raney has over 14 years of law enforcement analysis experience with different agencies throughout California and has served as the Vice President of the Bay Area Criminal and Intelligence Analyst Association (BACIAA) since 2015. Michael discusses his academic and professional journey towards the career, and the lengths he’s gone through to remain in this field. Michael shares two analyst badge stories this week: 1) a series of restaurant burglaries where the investigative and prosecution team really leaned into his work products, and 2) a federal gang investigation involving guns. Michael also discusses the myriad of tools he’s been able to capitalize on throughout his career, and how he developed skills in multiple disciplines and becoming a jack-of-all-trades. Michael has overcome a number of struggles in his career, including job rejections, four hour commutes, and stutters in his speech; we are honored that Michael is sharing his journey with us and hope it helps and motivates our listeners to stay persistent because your hard work and commitment will pay off. Michael is currently a crime analyst for the Antioch Police Department.
