ATWJE - Darin Lee - Get Your Foot in the Door

Episode: 00179 Released on October 2, 2023 Description: Darin Lee, winner of the 2023 IACA Membership Award, joins us this week to discuss the missing person case that won him the award as well as a residential burglary that was cracked using GIS technologies. Darin is a GIS graduate, and shares how he bridged his specialty to the criminal justice profession; he also gives advice to aspiring analysts on what skills to invest in for the best return. Darin is regarded as a leading expert amongst his analyst peers, department, and prosecution team as he has been requested to testify on multiple – more than any analyst we know – occasions as an expert witness. Darin provides quick and detailed responses to inquiries – so quick, in fact, that people have questioned whether he was an AI. Darin is currently an Intelligence Analyst of Violent Crimes in the Perpetrator Information Center (PIC) for the Kansas City, MO Police Department, and he is an avid beekeeper.
