Episode: 00108

Release Date: May 23, 2022

Description: Introducing our guest this week along with all her accomplishments and contributions to the law enforcement analysis profession would probably take up an entire episode alone. Annie Mitchell – known for her 43 years of law enforcement experience (stenographer, dispatcher, crime analyst, intelligence analyst, and supervising analyst) with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office (LASO), former President of the Southern California Crime and Intelligence Analysts Association (SCCIAA), current VP of Administration for the IACA, and of course, a kickass host of unforgettable Mardi Gras parties. Annie walks us through the multiple roles she’s held with the LASO over her four decades with them, how she grew into the analyst profession without a college degree, and three badge stories: 1) crime intelligence analysis in an organized crimes investigations, 2) fast food restaurant robbery series (and predicting when and where the next hit would be), and 3) finding “Bob” for a homicide investigation. Annie is a born leader, serving not only on boards for professional associations, but also for her women’s golf league. Annie is currently retired, but remains active in the law enforcement analysis community as a trainer and serving as the VP of Administration for the IACA.
