So far Apple has only confirmed that OS X Mavericks (10.9) release date will be "coming this fall". For those of you (like us) who were a bit dusty on when precisely fall/autumn starts and finishes in the Northern Hemisphere, we did minimum research on Autumn and can confirm that it means OS X Maverick's release date will be between 22 September and 20 December.

A federal court in New York has come down hard on Apple in a closely watched case over ebook pricing. In a ruling issued Tuesday morning, US District Judge Denise Cote ruled that the company “brilliantly” organized a conspiracy to raise prices and thwart competition.

With Judge Cote’s decision in, however, it’s possible that Amazon could get more aggressive about offering these discounts, which Apple and other ebook retailers might then try to match. Apple has matched many of Amazon’s discounts so far, but the practice isn’t in its DNA as it has been able to rely on MFNs for other types of digital content.
