Ephraim Mattos is a former Navy SEAL who now dedicates himself to humanitarian work. His book, City of Death, Humanitarian Warriors in the Battle of Mosul, is a riveting and in depth journey into some of the world’s most dangerous humanitarian missions.

Joined the Free Burma Rangers on a mission which was partially captured on film. One camera was rolling when Ephraim was shot during a rescue, and the video went viral. Ephraim used that platform to gain support for his mission of helping people who most need help, in places most people won’t go.

His organization, Stronghold Rescue and Relief, whose mission is “to send highly-trained former Special Operations warriors into the heart of the storm to find and assist families in need.”

We interviewed Ephraim in 2018. His story is still powerful and his message about rising above hate is even more relevant today than it was then,

In this episode, we share some of Ephraim’s intense stories, as well as his messages about the reality behind Post Traumatic Stress in veterans, and the power of loving those beside you more than you hate those against you.
