Why seastead? Joe Quirk, co-author of the book "Seasteading, How Ocean Cities Will Change the World," has more than a couple of reasons. Joe was one of dozens who attended the Seasteading Conference 2012 in San Francisco, which brought together dedicated adventure seekers and entrepreneurs looking to transform the ocean into the next frontier for humanity. Every great change throughout history has begun with a group of individuals who dreamt up a desire, and then acted to make their vision a reality. The number of reasons behind the desire to seastead are as numerous as the number of people in our community. Why are you seasteading?

Segment 3- Seasteading 20 Questions, 20 Answers, 20 Seconds Each

Joe Quirk was asked to perform a PechaKucha, a fast-paced Japanese presentation style in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each, requiring the speaker to narrate without controlling the slides or showing his face. The audience pre-submitted 20 questions:

What's wrong with governments?
How does seasteading solve this problem?
Won't governments just form again on the ocean?
Is seasteading realistic?
What if I get seasick?
What about tsunamis?
What about hurricanes?
What if it turns into Waterworld?
Is seasteading safe for my grandma?
How will seasteaders afford health care?
How will seasteads provide water?
Can I afford to live on a seastead?
Can I play golf on a seastead?
Why will seasteads be better than land cities?
What will the laws be on seasteads?
What about pollution?
What about pirates?
What about politics?
Name me one example of a successful seastead.
How will seasteads save the world?

Joe answers all these questions and more at 20 seconds per slide.
