The first way to increase Sales (and thus increase profits) is the best-known way: get more customers.

On Amazon this primarily comes down to the basics of:

Ranking for high volume (or low-volume but high-converting) keywords on Page 1. (Impressions). PPC plays its part as does optimizing your product listing.
Getting Amazon shoppers to click through to your listing - a keen price and great photo are key.  (Clicks/sessions)
Getting people who view your product page to buy (Conversions). Again a keen price helps, followed closely by fantastic images and well written bullet points.

Of course, there are many other ways but these are the simplest and most direct.
