Today is Septuagesima, literally, 70 days before Easter, and we begin to turn our attention towards the rapidly approaching season of Lent, and in this preparation, we consider the several themes on the appointed lessons and apply them to our own lives. The conquest of the promised land, the athlete in pursuit of the prize, the laborer in the vineyard, all teach us about the path that Christ has pioneered for us and that we are called to follow in our pursuit of eternal glory.
