Kids these days don't know how good we had it. 1991 was a supernova convergence of tectonic shifts in the popular music landscape. In '91 hip hop was settling artfully into the next phase of growth in its inevitable takeover of the Billboard charts, while at the same time rumblings were coming from the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere that would signal the moment when punk rock became mainstream, in the form of 'grunge'. Some of the most beloved bands of all time put out their absolute best record in 1991, as you'll soon hear if you listen to this week's podcast. The show takes another trip to the warm climes of Orange County, as we welcome Ryan Blake, Andy Garza and Cody Requejo of the OC's #1 Dad Rock Band Of All Time, Il Destro. As we discuss, it's almost unfair how many phenomenal albums came out in 1991, and there's little doubt you'll find one of your favorites had to be left off the list, but the ones that made it were all more than worthy to represent the year that punk broke and music was as vital as ever.
