Welcome back to the All Things Food podcast. This week host Nickie Hursthouse speaks with Kaitlyn Lamb about composting and urban farms.

Kaitlyn is a year 13 student in Rotorua who is passionate about growing healthy local food, in a regenerative organic way.

Without healthy soils, we would not have healthy food, and Kaitlyn is on a mission to set up more urban farms across New Zealand and the world so there are urban farms within a 1km radius of each other. These farms would be compost hubs where food waste can be used to create fertile soil.

Kaitlyn is just 18 years old but has already made a significant impact within her community. This is a great conversation that should inspire us all to get out into the community to support each other and a healthy environment.

Take a listen to find out:

How to start composting?Do you need to be worried composting will smell? What is the difference between composting and a worm farm? Why is the health of our soil important for the health of our bodies? How to take inspiration for all the work Kaitlyn has done in her community
