Keep It Real: The Work of Changing the World—A Conversation with Afua Boahene
Real people. Real stories. Real life.

"The world is not really changed by what you say, the world is changed by what you do."

What is ACTIVISM?

Alice Walker once said, “Activism is the rent we pay for living on the planet.”  Archbishop Desmond Tutu said, “If we are neutral in situations of injustice, we have chosen the side of the oppressor.”

In this episode of All There Is,  Afua Boahene  explains that activism is the work we are all called to do in order to "repair what's been broken in the world" and that  "Activism is the pathway back to the world as it was originally planned."

It takes courage. It takes risk. It takes community and connectivity. The work of activism can be accomplished through art, writing, teaching, bearing witness, asking questions, demanding transparency, interrogating structures and policies and through the consistent and progressive practice of making things possible and creating pathways that widen spaces and open doors that create equity and justice for all. It is having the conviction and desire to see the moral arc of the universe bend toward justice.

After all, "just saying I believe in an equal world without doing anything actually doesn't help."

Tune in to hear Afua discuss her passion and commitment to doing the work that is necessary to repair the world we live in through activism.
