SERMON DESCRIPTION
SONNET 138- WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
When my love swears that she is made of truth,I do believe her, though I know she lies,That she might think me some untutored youthUnlearned in the world’s false subtleties.
We tell a variety of lies, from little white lies to boasting and bragging, to the outright concealing of information, and we do so for a number of different reasons. Why do we lie? In observing children, Psychologist and credibility expert, Dr. Paul Eckman, has observed that lying and how we prepare a lie actually changes over our lifetime. How can we encourage truthfulness in our children and understand the ways in which we may be encouraging others to lie to us?
