The sermon was delivered on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Pastor Randy Lewis, Adjunct Minister.
SERMON DESCRIPTION
In today’s America, there is a great deal of conversation about the role of religion and how influential it is and should be. If we were indeed a Christian nation, then, rightly so, our laws would reflect that. However, is America not referred to as “the melting pot?” Are we not made up of many different cultures and people, with different religious and political views?
What we believe often shapes who we are, how we perceive the world around us, and how we treat people. How do we learn to love and care for others, especially when they are different or believe differently than we do? How can we apply love to those who claim supremacy because of religion? Whose beliefs are the right ones, when religion, politics, and one’s own personal preferences clash?
