The sermon was delivered on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson, Guest Minister.
SERMON DESCRIPTION
To appreciate means to recognize the full worth of something and to be grateful for it. When something appreciates, it rises in value or price.
Appreciation and thanksgiving connect directly to forgiveness and are not just a reactionary emotions; they are causative energies. They are effective keys by which anyone may “meet life as a powerful conqueror, not a victim of, but a victor over circumstances.”
Appreciation clears mental patterns that cause disease, or dis-ease. One of the main hindrances to healing and wholeness is unforgiveness, not just of others but of yourself. The mental patterns that cause most dis-ease in the body are criticism, anger, resentment, guilt, and unforgiveness. Forgiveness empowers the forgiver and takes his or her power back from the the cause and substitutes it with the cure of forgiveness. The main key to forgiveness is gratefulness in, more than for, all things!
