The sermon was delivered on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister.
SERMON DESCRIPTION
The thirst continues as we go to part two of our September sermon series. The thirst for meaning is one of the deepest human longings. It's been said that "religion exist as a response to the fact that human beings are conscious that we are alive and that we are going to die." No other creatures seem to wonder or be confused about their purpose or what they are meant to do. Humans however find ourselves in the uncomfortable and exhilarating questions of why we are here and how we came to be and what all that means about our purpose and possibilities. Many religions would claim to provide a definitive answer to these enigmas, but here at All Souls we have a very different approach. Invite your friends and colleagues as we explore this human thirst for meaning in ways that are  unencumbered by religious dogmas. Here we do not want doctrines, superstitions or taboos to restrict our exploration of what is real.
