SERMON DESCRIPTION
We’re often amazed by childrens’ intense thirst for justice. Recently, I was watching a brother and sister playing mancala. When the girl dropped an extra stone into her pile, her brother caught her wrist and made her drop it back in its proper place. “Mom, she’s cheating!” came an indignant cry, without hesitation or apology. By the time mom came over to intervene, brother and sister were back at the game and there was no need for an explanation about right and wrong.
Life is definitely more complicated than a game of mancala! Having spent just one week eating (mostly) only the food we could afford on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program,) or only $4.28 per day, we are eager to share with you how we fared and what we learned. We invite you to join us this Sunday to hear how we not only thirst, but also hunger, not just for food, but also for justice!
Each of us brought something different to this experience and each took something very different away.
