The sermon was delivered on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Barbara Prose, Executive Director of Ministry. SERMON DESCRIPTION There is no better way to conquer an enemy than to divide them—thus the expression, “divide and conquer.” For hundreds of years, religion has used the threat of being divided in the afterlife—go to heaven or go to hell—as a way of dividing and disempowering people. Temptation to defend ourselves, when we talk about issues of oppression, divides families and friendships. This defensiveness and division is a threat to our families, our future, and our freedom. Let’s talk about the connections between oppressions so we can, as Rev. Dr. Barber says, build a “fusion coalition of people committed to reconstructing America itself.” The most important word in our constitution and in our work for justice, is “we.” SUBSCRIBE TO AUDIO PODCAST: WATCH THIS SERMON ON YOUTUBE: SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL: GIVE A DONATION TO HELP US SPREAD THIS LOVE BEYOND BELIEF: or text LOVEBB to 41444 LET'S CONNECT: Facebook: Twitter: All Souls Church Website:
