‘Moving forward into a new business, I know what I need out of it’

Olivia Morris has always been creative, and discovered her interest in and talent for shoe design whilst undertaking a Foundation art course. She has gone from strength to strength, and is currently running her second business, creating beautifully luxurious house shoes. Olivia picked up much of her business acumen along the way through the success of her first business, and discusses:

The journey into shoe design, from her weekend job on the shop floor working for Patrick Cox, through to London Fashion Week and beyond. Navigating changes to the market, including the move to online retail, and increased competition in the fashion industry. The value of previous experience in the industry, learning from mistakes, and building relationships with manufacturers.   Considerations when choosing between wholesale and selling directly to the consumer.  The importance of a holistic, caring approach to business and maintaining a generosity of spirit between the people you work with.
