In today's world, Christians have been pressed to accept and adopt the belief that there are two worlds to live in; the sacred and the secular. The sacred is the realm of religious "truth", while the secular is the realm of your public life, which includes everything from science to marriage. The myth is that the two should never meet because they have not business doing so. This isn't what scripture teaches, however.
